For several days now, I?ve been in a running argument with an individual who goes by the name of ?On Lawn? over in the comments sections of the blog ran by anti-gay equality group National Organization for Marriage. In several comments here, here, and here, this person seems to imply that procreation, or at least the potential for procreation, is a requirement of marriage. I?ve tried several times to get this person to explain this concept but they keep brushing off the question calling it absurd. When I tried to point out that there is no link between marriage and procreation they came back with this.
Well, there shows the damage they want to do to the institution. If marriage can?t look equally at the interests of all involved in the practice of human mating, then you tell me what can.
Prehistoric humans didn?t marry before they mated, they just found a bush did it. When you look at the whole of human history, marriage is a relatively new creation, only being a few thousand years old. Our very existence proves that marriage is not a requirement or an essential element of the human mating process.

It never seems to take very long for the termites to come streaming out of the woodwork after something like yesterday’s rare east coast earthquake. Religious Bigot Joseph Farah at World Nut Job Daily believes that the quake and the impending hurricane Irene are God’s way of telling Washington DC to shape up or ship out.
Washington, D.C., deserves more than the wallop it got today. It needs a much bigger shaking up than it got. And I have no doubts that it is coming – unless there is a real change of heart in the leadership of this country.
After all, if America doesn’t face judgment soon, God will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah. And God doesn’t offer apologies.
He does, however, offer second chances, third chances, fourth chances …
He’s trying to get your attention. Are you paying heed? What will it take? Will your world have to be turned upside down before you recognize what’s happening? Would even that be enough?
Of course what can you really expect from someone that can’t seem to grasp the concept of Natural Born Citizen.
A 6.0 quake in Mineral, Virginia that was felt as far away Burlington, Vermont has prompted a precautionary evacuation of the US Capital and the Pentagon in Washington DC. The quake has also triggered evacuations and closures up and down the Eastern seaboard including the Holland Tunnel, the control towers at JFK and Newark Airports. CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell tweeted that Secret Service was rushing people out of the White House.
This quake come not long after a 5.3 quake hit Colorado, it’s strongest quake since 1967. The two are not connected.
