The GOP Fu-dget Plan

March 26th, 2009

For some time now myself and others have been railing on the idea that the GOP has been simply fighting against the President?s plan for moving the country forward and fixing our economy without providing some sort of alternative to the President?s budget.

Today the GOP put out a Budget Alternative, or at least a blue-print for one. Maybe it?s a rough draft?

After the break is video from Fox News as posted on the Daily KOS.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Ok, ok, I know it’s a couple of days late, but I’ve been on vacation for the last two weeks. It was great to spend as much time as possible doing as little as humanly possible.

I spent most of the two weeks loafing around playing World of Warcraft, watching movies, and thoroughly abusing the new pizza cooker that I bought for myself. Of course the new cooker means fewer Godfather’s orders which in the long run will save me money. I went to Hy-Vee today and for the $20.00 I normally spend on one pizza from Godfathers I picked up 10 frozen pizzas. Yes, if your wondering, I tend to eat a lot of pizza. Up until now I was probably wasting around $100.00 a month on pizza from Godfather’s. While they make great pizzas, its something I’ve never really been able to afford on such a regular basis.

With the beginning of the new year, comes my return to work. BOOOO!!! Don’t get me wrong, I’m satisfied with my job, something that not many people can say. But with two weeks off you just sort of get out of the habit and now I have to get back into it.

Conversations

image Last Thursday was Thanksgiving. I went over to mother’s for a nice quiet diner with her and my stepfather. I had a great time chatting with them and catching up a little bit. It seems odd sometimes, now that she has retired, we don’t get to see each other everyday anymore. While I miss that closeness its fun to actually have things to talk about now.

You see, when you see a person every day, after a time you kind of run out of things to say to each other, and when its in a working environment it all tends to focus on the job.

When you don’t see a person everyday, there is a bit of excitement in sitting and catching up and the conversation becomes more personal. Sure we still sometimes end up “talking shop” but some habits are hard to break.

Technical Difficulties

image Just as we were getting back to posting last week, my web host decided it wanted to have technical difficulties. So if you’ve stopped by and only gotten a pretty white load of nothing, that’s the reason. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still pretty happy with my host service, Ipower.

Adventures in Computer Hardware

PICT0002About a month ago the video card in my Dell Inspiron 530 decided that it would take a crap on me while I was getting ready for a raid with my World of Warcraft guildmates in Foederati. The screen froze and then everything pixilated. I was a very sad individual. I quickly opened the case and unplugged the card and then started everything back up using the graphics chipset that was imbedded in the motherboard. While it let me log into the game, raiding in Icecrown Citadel was like watch an old stop action movie. By the time my computer registered that the boss had died the guild had all ready distributed loot and moved on to the next one. So I stepped out of the raid while I started to access what it would take to get back up and running, while at the same time taking the opportunity to do some upgrading in preparation for the release of Cataclysm.

Number 38 and counting

At 10:52 am on August 13th of 1972 I was born in a small southern Iowa town. At the time I suspect that my mother had decided that being in labor with me was probably the biggest pain I would ever give her. Boy was she wrong. =) Here is a picture of dad ?eating? my fingers. A funny trivia note about my family. My mother was born on the 13th of March and I was born on the 13th of August. My Dad was born on the 16th of April and my sister was born on the 16th of May.
