In 1873 Jules Verne published the novel “Around the World in 80 Days“, in which an English Gentleman attempts to circumnavigate the Earth on bet. At the time the story was taken as simple fiction.
In 1889 Nellie Bly actually succeeded in making the trip and did it in just 72 days.
Today the Space Shuttle can make the trip in about 90 minuets.
A new plasma based rocket engine system, named Vasimr, has just recently been approved for testing on the ISS in 2012. The new engine could make it possible to travel to Mars in as little as 39 days, making around trip voyage of less than 80 days.

Early this morning Argentina became the first country in Latin America to approve Marriage Equality. This also makes them the 10 nation to grant full Marriage Equality to it?s people.
Argentina?s senate voted 33-27 after nearly 14 hours of debate with a vote at about 4am local time to approve the law.
Argentina’s President Cristina Fern?ndez de Kirchner issued a statement prior to the vote stating she supported the bill and would sign it if passed. There was also speculation that their Supreme Court was about to issue a ruling in a pending case that would have legalized same sex marriage even if the senate had not approved the bill.
Even NOM?s chief fear monger wasn?t able to stop the advancement of equality and human dignity.
On a side note, I wonder how many Argentineans get tired of being connected to that Madonna song.
