Stimulus passes Senate

The Senate passed the $838 billion dollar stimulus bill today in a 61-37 vote. All of the votes against the bill were Republicans. 3 Republicans jumped the isle to vote in favor of the bill and Senator Ted Kennedy, who is fighting a brain tumor, made the trip to cast his vote.

The bill must now be reconciled by committee with the bill that the house passed. With a little luck and a lot of hard work it will be on the President?s desk some time this week or next.
